I finished my Chemistry Degree in 2004 at the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain, having spent one year at "La Sapienza" University, Rome, Italy, with the "Erasmus" interchange program.

I started my scientific career with a PhD in a joint project carried out under the supervision of the University of Navarra and the “Forschung Institut für Molekulare Pharmakologie” (FMP, Berlin, Germany). The project entailed both the organic synthesis of new antagonists of the MCHR1 receptor, a GPCR, so as the study, by means of docking and molecular dynamics simulations, of the interactions between the new compounds and the protein.

After obtaining my Ph.D in 2009, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Institute of Medical Biochemistry (IBqM), at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil, in the area of expression, synthesis and structural determination of proteins.

Since March 2011 I work as a professor in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the UFRJ. I develop my research activities at the Molecular Modeling and 3D-QSAR (ModMolQSAR) laboratory. In 2015, I was visiting researcher in the laboratory of Dr. dal Peraro, in the Ecole polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland), and since 2018 I am again visiting researcher, this time in the Institute of Biology and Chemistry of Proteins (Lyon, France).
